Wirtgen W220i Cold Milling Machine

A ReliaMAX™ automatic lubrication system was installed on a Wirtgen W220i Cold Milling Machine to streamline maintenance and ensure consistent grease delivery to 57 critical lubrication points across the machine. The installation was designed to handle high mechanical demands and reduce wear in both the milling drum assembly and the conveyor systems.

Lubrication targets include multiple bearings on the headshaft, tailshaft, idlers, and tracks, as well as steering cylinder pins, guide columns, suspension points, drag links, vertical and door cylinder connections, and conveyor swivel joints. These components experience heavy loads and constant motion during milling operations, making continuous lubrication essential to equipment longevity.

The system features an 8 kg ReliaMAX™ electric grease pump paired with progressive divider valves, feed lines, and polyamide tail lines, all routed and mounted for durability in tough jobsite environments. The system is filled with Almagard® Vari-Purpose Lubricant (3751) to provide long-lasting protection under high pressure and vibration.

By automating the lubrication process, this cold planer benefits from reduced manual labor, improved uptime, and protection against premature wear on key components.
