Low Friction, High Protection
Electric motors rely on consistent, high-quality lubrication to protect their bearings, reduce friction, and prevent premature failure. When the wrong grease is used or when lubrication intervals and volumes are inconsistent, heat buildup, oxidation, and mechanical wear can occur. These are among the most common causes of electric motor downtime and costly repairs.
Selecting the correct grease is critical to maintaining reliable motor performance. Most electric motors require an NLGI 2 or 3 grease with a base oil viscosity between 100 and 150 cSt at 40°C, along with good channeling characteristics to ensure proper grease flow and distribution within the bearing. Key properties include low oil bleed, oxidation resistance, mechanical stability, and anti-wear protection to minimize metal-to-metal contact and extend bearing life.
While polyurea-based greases are most commonly specified for electric motors, other thickener types such as aluminum complex, lithium complex, and calcium sulfonate may also be suitable depending on the operating environment. However, it is important to note that polyurea greases are not compatible with other thickener systems, and mixing them can result in separation, lubrication loss, or premature bearing failure.
Designed exclusively for electric motor applications, Monolec® Extend EM Grease (1282) helps eliminate lubrication-related failures and extend equipment life. Its balanced formulation maintains consistent viscosity, resists oxidation, and keeps bearings properly lubricated over long service intervals.
Key Benefits:
Proper lubrication helps prevent overheating, reduces friction, and extends the service life of critical motor-driven equipment. Common applications include:
Maintaining the right grease volume at consistent intervals is essential for maximizing motor life. Single Point Lubricators automate this process, ensuring precision and reliability while reducing maintenance demands.
Advantages:
If manual greasing is necessary, use a hand-operated grease gun only. Avoid air or cordless grease guns, which can apply excessive pressure and damage bearings.
Lubrication Technologies, Inc. has been an independent manufacturer’s representative of Lubrication Engineers, Inc. for over 45 years.
