Single Line Resistance Lubrication Systems

Overview

Single Line Resistance (SLR) lubrication systems offer a simple, cost-effective solution for distributing small, metered doses of oil to multiple lubrication points through a single main line. Designed for low-pressure operation, these systems use DPT resistance metering valves to proportion lubricant based on pump pressure and oil viscosity, ensuring consistent and reliable delivery across the network.

SLR systems are ideal for light, medium, and heavy machinery where closely grouped bearings or components require continuous or periodic oil lubrication. Supporting up to 100 lubrication points, these systems provide clean, precise lubrication while minimizing waste, friction, and wear. The result is improved equipment life, smoother operation, and reduced maintenance requirements.

An SLR system operates by feeding oil from a central pump through a single main supply line to a network of DPT metering units. Each metering valve restricts and measures the oil flow to its assigned lubrication point, ensuring every component receives the correct amount of lubricant during each cycle.

After each pump discharge, pressure is released automatically, allowing the metering units to reset for the next cycle. This pressure-and-relief process ensures consistent dosing and prevents continuous flow or over-lubrication.

SLR Pumps

We offer a variety of manual and electric pumps engineered for use with Single Line Resistance systems. Each pump provides consistent oil pressure and precise discharge control to ensure accurate metering through the DPT valves.

These pumps are available in a variety of reservoir sizes and material options to suit different machinery layouts and lubrication intervals. Each electric version features built-in or optional control boards for automatic cycle management and pressure release.

Our lineup includes:

CMV-15 Electric Pump

Compact motorized pump for small to mid-size installations.

MPT 200/PL Electric Pump

High-capacity pump with built-in pressure control for large installations.

CME-BP Electric Pump

Heavy-duty gear pump for medium and large systems.

PM Manual Pumps

Hand-operated piston pumps available in different stroke capacities.

NOTE: All Single Line Resistance (SLR) pumps are available by request and configured according to your application requirements. Because these units are designed specifically for SLR systems, each order is reviewed to ensure compatibility with the selected valves, output range, and operating conditions. DPT Resistance Metering Valves & Manifolds

DPT resistance metering valves are precision components used in Single Line Resistance (SLR) systems to ensure each lubrication point receives a controlled amount of oil during every pressure cycle. They meter lubricant through a calibrated orifice, regulating flow according to system pressure and oil viscosity. This simple, reliable design provides consistent and repeatable oil delivery under varying conditions.

For flexible installation, DPT valves can be mounted individually at lubrication points or grouped together on manifolds that distribute oil from a single supply line. The manifold, also known as a mounting block, serves as a base for multiple valves, streamlining installation and servicing on equipment with clustered lubrication points.

Each valve features an internal check mechanism that prevents backflow when the system depressurizes, ensuring accurate dosing across cycles. Available in a variety of calibrated outputs and connection sizes, DPT valves and manifolds allow precise control over oil distribution and can be configured to match the layout of virtually any machine.

How Single-Line Resistance Lubrication Systems Work

This diagram illustrates a basic example of how a Single Line Resistance (SLR) lubrication system operates.

  1. Oil Supply: The central pump (top) begins each cycle by building pressure in the main supply line. Oil is pushed from the reservoir through the line strainer, which filters out debris and ensures only clean lubricant enters the system.
  2. Distribution: The pressurized oil travels through the main line and branches into several secondary lines. Each branch feeds a group of DPT resistance metering valves, which control the amount of oil sent to each lubrication point.
  3. Metered Delivery: Each DPT valve dispenses a small, fixed amount of oil during every cycle. The labeled values, such as 0.10, 0.15, or 0.30 cc per cycle, represent typical discharge volumes. This allows each lubrication point to receive the correct quantity based on its load and operating conditions.
  4. Pressure Release: Once the system achieves a preset pressure which allows all of the injectors or meters to discharge the specific volume they are rated for, an EOL (end of line) switch ( often not at the end) stops the pump from building pressure and the system automatically relieves line pressure back to the reservoir. This allows all metering valves to reset, preparing them for the next cycle and ensuring accurate, repeatable operation.

Note: In systems equipped with an electric pump, a controller manages the timing of each cycle, adjusting the pause and working intervals to match the application’s needs.

This example shows a simplified layout, but SLR systems can be customized for a wide range of machinery, from compact groups of lubrication points to large installations serving up to 100 individual bearings.
